Closing a Glass Jar: Screw, Clips or Seal

The Bokotwist closes with a screw lid: one quarter turn and you're done. The 10 cl version comes with its lid; for the other sizes, the lid is purchased separately.

The Boko requires three components: a glass lid, a rubber seal and two stainless-steel clips. Assembled together, they provide an airtight closure. They are also three separate items to remember when placing an order, which is precisely what the Boko kits solve, as they come with the jar, lid and seal grouped together, while the clips are sold separately. The same lid fits several capacities: the small lid closes the 8 and 14 cl jars, while the large lid fits the 29, 37 and 58 cl versions. And if the jar needs to go in the customer's microwave, the transparent PP lid is the one designed for this purpose.

The Yogur jar, meanwhile, accepts a heat-sealable aluminium lid if you are sealing the jars in the lab, or a transparent rPET lid if you are closing them by hand. The 12 cl version also comes with a white PE lid.

A Glass Jar for Every Serving Occasion

The Yogur was designed for yoghurt and dessert creams, in 12 and 18 cl sizes. It is the format for the dairy dessert prepared the day before and arranged in a display cabinet or on a breakfast buffet.

The Boko jars have the familiar look of traditional preserving jars that customers immediately recognize, whether used for a main dish or a dessert. They range from 8 to 58 cl, while the 22 cl Tulp kit breaks away from the straight-sided look when you are looking for a more rounded shape.

The 85 cl Bokotwist is the format for a complete meal, a large salad or an individual main course. Below that, the 13.5, 26 and 45 cl sizes are suited to starters, individual portions and desserts. The 7 and 10 cl sizes are ideal for bite-sized servings, cocktails or reception buffets.

Transporting Glass Jars Without Breaking Them

Two full jars touching inside a box — you hear it at the first roundabout and see the damage when they arrive. That's why protective inserts are essential: two 26 or 45 cl Bokotwist jars fit securely in the Bokobox and the Polybox, each with its own insert; one 13.5 cl jar fits in the Bokobox; and two 85 cl jars fit in the Smartbox. Transport boxes and their inserts should be selected at the same time as the jars, not afterwards.

The return journey matters just as much as the outbound one. Boko and Bokotwist jars can be washed, returned to service and incorporated into a deposit-return system — the very principle behind a reusable range. For regular takeaway sales to office workers or local customers, the jar comes back. At a festival stand or for a customer catching a train, it won't, and disposable containers then provide a practical solution without requiring a return trip.

From Oven to Dishwasher: What Glass Can Handle

Yogur jars are suitable for the oven, microwave and freezer. You can cook the cream directly in the jar, chill it and serve it without ever having to transfer it to another container.

When closed, Bokotwist jars can be pasteurized and sterilized. This makes them suitable for preserves, terrines and dishes prepared several days in advance.

A glass jar can be washed and put back into service. The trade-off is that it is heavier and can break: when the container is not going to be returned, cardboard and PP food containers avoid the need to use glass.
