Closing a Glass Jar: Screw, Clips or Seal

The Bokotwist is closed with a screw-top lid: a quarter turn and it is done. The 10 cl version comes with its lid; for the other capacities, the lid is ordered separately.

The Boko requires three components: a glass lid, a rubber seal and two stainless-steel clips. Once assembled, they provide an airtight closure. Boko kits prevent missing components by bringing the jar, lid and seal together in the same set; only the clips are ordered separately.

One lid fits several capacities: the small lid closes the 8 and 14 cl jars, while the large lid closes the 29, 37 and 58 cl jars. If the jar needs to go into the microwave at the customer's premises, the transparent PP lid is designed for this purpose.

The Yogur jar can be sealed with a heat-sealable aluminium film if you seal the jars in the laboratory, or with a transparent rPET lid if you close them by hand. The 12 cl version also comes with a white PE lid.

A Glass Jar for Every Service Occasion

The Yogur was designed for yoghurt and dessert creams, in 12 and 18 cl sizes. It is the format for dairy desserts prepared the day before and arranged in a display case or on a breakfast buffet.

The Boko jars have the familiar look of traditional preserving jars, instantly recognisable to customers, whether used for a main dish or a dessert. They range from 8 to 58 cl, while the 22 cl Tulp kit breaks away from the straight lines when you are looking for a more rounded shape.

The 85 cl Bokotwist is the format for a complete meal, a large salad or an individual dish. Below that, the 13.5, 26 and 45 cl sizes are suitable for starters, individual portions and desserts. The 7 and 10 cl sizes are ideal for bite-sized servings, cocktails or reception buffets.

Transporting Glass Jars Without Breaking Them

Two full jars touching each other inside a transport box can make themselves heard at the first roundabout and show the damage on arrival. This is why inserts are used: two 26 or 45 cl Bokotwist jars can be secured in the Bokobox or the Polybox, each with its own insert; one 13.5 cl jar fits in the Bokobox, while two 85 cl jars fit in the Smartbox.

Transport boxes and their inserts should be selected at the same time as the jars, not afterwards.

The return journey is just as important as the outward journey. Boko and Bokotwist jars can be washed, returned to service and incorporated into a deposit-return system, which is the very principle behind the reusable range. For regular takeaway sales to office or local customers, the jar comes back. At a festival stand or for a customer travelling home by train, it may not come back, and disposable containers then provide a practical solution without requiring a return collection.

From Oven to Dishwasher: What Glass Can Withstand

Yogur jars can be used in the oven, microwave and freezer. You can cook the cream directly in the jar, cool it and serve it without ever having to transfer it to another container.

When closed, Bokotwist jars can be pasteurised and sterilised. This makes them suitable for preserves, terrines and dishes prepared several days in advance.

A glass jar can be washed and returned to service. However, it is heavier and can break: when the container will not be returned, cardboard and PP containers avoid the need to use glass.
