Choosing the Right Meal Box

The first criterion when choosing a meal box is the number of place settings. Essentiel boxes are available for one, two or four people, with the four-person version also suitable for sharing offers.

The second criterion is the opening. Faubourg and Panier repas boxes open from the top, making them easy to fill and allowing the contents to be seen. Bento, on the other hand, has two side openings.

The third criterion is transport. Bokobox and Polybox feature a folding handle. Faubourg closes with two natural cords that also serve as handles, while Allure uses a satin black ribbon. The customer can carry it by the cords like a bag, so there is nothing else you need to provide.

Finally, there is assembly. Most boxes are supplied flat and take shape thanks to an automatic-locking base. Allure is secured with adhesive strips. Maxiglass is supplied pre-assembled.

The Box and Its Insert

The insert is what distinguishes a meal box from a simple box. It fits into the bottom, and its cells are pre-perforated to match the diameter of the containers. Without it, you could open the box at the customer's premises and find that everything has slid to one side.

Bokobox is compatible with four different inserts: one for the Boko range, one for Woodbox containers, one for glass Bokotwist containers, and a versatile Wobot insert with adjustable cells.

Polybox has its own insert, designed for two containers and one glass. The Essentiel box comes with a twelve-cell insert designed for Kova verrines, plus a kraft divider with two handles that extends beyond the box and can then be used as a placemat.

You can change the containers without changing the box: simply change the insert.

Materials and Assembly of a Meal Box

Almost all of these boxes are made from recyclable cardboard and supplied flat. You store sheets, not boxes.

Allure is made from compact cardboard and manufactured in France. On the black version, the kraft lid can also be tucked underneath the box to create a two-tone presentation.

Maxiglass is made from grooved PP, with a hinged lid and a compartmented insert. It closes by clipping on three sides and is supplied pre-assembled.

Bento Alu is made from metal, with a hinged transparent PS lid. Made in France, reusable and recyclable, it has a tin-box format and can be used for mini sandwiches or biscuits.

Choosing a Meal Box for Different Catering Services

For a corporate lunch delivery, the Bento box can transport up to four stacked plates.

For takeaway, the Bokobox and its handle leave with the customer. The Smart Box can hold a small bottle, can or cups alongside the sandwich.

For a brunch or sharing event, Newsbox consists of a tray-drawer and a sleeve, and can accommodate both food containers and tableware.

Nomad can be configured with the Cubik range, hammered bowls or Bokotwist containers. The reversible and stackable Plateau Box is better suited to takeaway or delivered meal trays.
